I picked up this 1970's Chrysler Hydro-vee the other day for next to nothing. It's gutted but I think it's a great looking hull with lots of potential. It's about 18' long and the bow is covered with space for a double bunk. The ID plate says it's a model 450 and the maximum HP is 140. I can't find a hull number, year or model name. Can anyone help out in that department? And does anyone have any opinions on the Hydro-vees
- they seem like a great design? I also have a 23' Hydro-vee with twin Volvo 4 cylinder gas engines but haven't got it in the water yet.
I like it. Interesting design. I've had several wide(er) boats like that. Some call them "cathedral" others call them tri-hulls. I guess it's a matter of semantics. Tri hulls had a bad rap with people saying they were rough riders, I never had a bad experience in any of the ones owned. They are very stable.
Enjoy your new find.
