My ship is in layup on Lake Calumet, on the south side of Chicago. This latest winter storm was the first test of my mooring skills- Did I put out enough wires and lines? Lets hope so

I shot some quick video this afternoon when the wind was pushing 50 MPH... Bitter cold, right out of the north. Luckily, when it was at it's peak, it was blowing me in to the dock rather than away!

The strong winds created the usual seiche on Lake Michigan- And the water levels went up by over two feet here in a matter of hours. So, I got to go out on deck (which was VERY slippery, since it rained all day yesterday!) to loosen the moorings several times to prevent them from snapping. Oh, what fun...

I'll be glad when this lake freezes over, and we are stuck to the dock
