I've been landscaping my yard for the last 7 weeks when I should have been boating and this is what happens. This was a tiny hole that we thought the chipmunks had dug as a back door from under our AC unit. That's a six foot shovel and a ten foot two by four disappearing !! Old septic tank maybe ??

This just proves no good deed goes unpunished. They are replacing the water mains on my street and even though I'm half the man I used to be I couldn't let all that free rock pass me by. I gave the Wife her dream yard and now I've got a sinkhole to deal with. The house is prettier now tho.....

I used a mortar hopper and my cordless drill and just put a dab here and a dab there where I thought it needed it. I expect it to settle a bit but I have lots of extra rock for when it does. The stuff in the middle is all just laying there in case I need to move the boats around. For the Wife it only cost a 1960 Humber. For you, if you supply the rock and a tent I'll do it for a 1959-1961 100 HP white and black Merc in PERFECT running condition LOL

Nope. LOL. I've got plastic legs from the knees down and a titanium ladder for a lower spine. This stuff HURTS !

If it wasn't for percocet I'd never move and sure couldn't have done this for the Wife. So I'll hold out for that 100HP and add that it needs to be delivered to Southern Ontario.

. I haggle backwards. LOL.

One neighbor thinks it's a dry well, one thinks it's from an old septic tank, but you might be right. My house and the 3 on both sides were all once a munitions factory during WWI and there is all kinds of stuff buried in and around our yards. The excavator's coming Wednesday to open it up. I'll let you know if you got the prize

They started replacing water mains on my street June 3. That hole opened up shortly after. I wonder if this vibrating roller had something to do with it. My fillings are vibrating as I type !

I hope this gets paved soon or I'm going to have to carry my boat out to the street !

And I mean that literally !

We dug a hole to see what it is, we're still not sure.

It's constructed of cinder blocks whatever it is.

That pipe leads me to believe it had something to do with the old septic system maybe ?

It was capped with railroad ties and we had a heck of a time getting through.

We're going to chainsaw the beams so we can fill it right from the dumptruck in one shot.

Apparently this is what's known as a " French " drain and is an old method of dispersing "gray" water rather than it going into the septic system. You learn something new everyday. I just didn't need to learn it in MY backyard.

At least I didn't have to pay for the fill. Just the delivery.

Unfortunately I DO have to pay for the water it's going to suck up getting it to settle and fill in those cinder block openings.
