This is a fresh water engine from Colorado !! I bought to put on my 65 G3 2 years ago.... very clean, not rusted!!! Now I'm thinking of selling it ! I need some feedback whats it worth????? If I get a decent offer I might sell it .. But not giving it away !!! Have no idea ??? don't have photos yet. Have control and the original cables in the original boxes !!!!
something screwed up this posted 5 times ??????? tried to report to moderator.. got this message ??? Could not instantiate mail function.
Was our connection really slow? That's happened to me in the past, connection was very slow and I hit post a couple of times thinking it didn't go through and by the time it should up it reflected every time I hit post. Just a thought.
Pictures would help, and if it is a short shaft that helps the value. If it is a clean runner that does not need a ton of work as most of them do, then I would say $400 for a long shaft and $500 for a shortie. Not a rare motor by any means and heavy as Hell, but one of my favorites, I have four of them.
Might post where you are, if it's in Idaho, even if I'm interested, & I'm in Florida, probably not likely, there's just too many decent 4cyl Merc 650's around. Although short shafts are much less often.
Location is everything, just like real estate. Where I am there are not many in decent shape, so they command a premium. But than again it is only the ones "in the know" who would even consider buying an engine that old to use. Most folks just consider them as scrap because of the age, lucky for us who know better!
OK Thanks, I'll post some photos That's the reason I sold my 1978 70 HP Merc ... got tired of repairing it! Bought a new Merc 50 last year ! I'll move junk in my garage and get some photos for the Classified ad section !!
