TOPIC: What coil controls which cylinders?

Check this out, this is what I found when I opened the control box for the 63' Merc 1000. The previous owner must have thought that pouring Plastic Dip on the exposed wires would help insulate the rotten mess. Nice try.

I had to ditch that set and run a new harness, even thought it was rotten at the other end. Just goes to show you, it is always something.

OK, now it starts but runs on 3 cylinders. The first try it was 1,3,5 that were dead so I switched the coils and now 2,4,6 is dead.

What coil controls which cylinder plugs?

Coil # 1 fires 1-5-3
Coil # 2 fires 2-4-6
Firing order is 1-4-5-2-3-6

Just remember Thom,...#2 coil is the front coil.
