Hello, I introduce myself, my name is Eric and I live in France. I am passionate about the boats of the years 60-70 and especially the omc, Evinrude and Johnson. Not so long ago I owned 2 of them: a 1967 Johnson Reveler and a 1970 Johnson sea sport. I sold the sea sport and I’m fixing the Johnson
I’m having a compatibility problem fixing the omc Coupling on my Mercruiser. I can’t fix the Coupling on the flywheel. Coupling fixation is not the same on the new Mercruiser model than the old one. The CRANKSHAFT is différent. Does anyone have a solution?
What a beautiful job. That model is the first boat I ever refurbished, same interior back in 1985. The Buick V6 motor is a beast and can take a lot of punishment and parts are still available. If you cannot get your problem solved with the coupling you might want to rethink putting the original motor back in or get a Mercury outdrive.
Here's the link for the other forum.
I’m actually thinking of putting back the original engine, an omc 120hp. I was wrong looking at the serial numbers of the boat. It is a reveler 120 and not a 155 as I originally thought. I have put on sale my Mercruiser 140
Changing the outdrive requires completely redoing the back panel. I don’t want to do this work. I want to keep the boat as it was originally.
