Made a trip 9 hours each way to LoLo Montana from Anacortes, I bought the boat off craigs from $300 only going by the pictures which were small. It was a consignment at a trailer business and they were outstanding in service on a $300 boat. First time I have made that trip and would like to do it with a running boat.
Boat looked rough but had snow on it, trailer had new ties and the tech tested and repaired, towed great at 70mph and did ok over 3 mountain passes in the snow, the Land Rover really pulls and drives like a tank and hurray for cheap gas, $150 gas bill for the trip.
Once I got it home I did a spray and wash, then started cleaning the junk out of it. The bottom had frozen and popped out, looks like it's made to do that since i don't think the bottom end failed, just the insert cast piece.
Somebody loved this boat, must have been in a garage or something, just a light wet sanding with 400 then 1500 and the gelcoat looks like new. Engine needs paint and the bottom end repaired but looks like it's pretty good, will get a compression on it today.
Chrome looks really good, no pitting just needs cleaning and same for the Aluminum trim.
Boats last registration was 1985. Looks really solid, just need to replace the wood boards on the side but no damage anywhere, love this white motor and I'm glad to be bringing back the life to a boat someone really loved and took care of till it's final years.

firstfibre, I had a windshield shipped(flew in) through Fedex from close to Chicago to Kernersville, NC around 5 yrs ago for $200. The '63 Aristo Craft windshield was too wide to send UPS. Spent a lot on the windshield, but had looked for one for decades. jim

Well finally finished the color sand and polish of the top part of the boat, came out better than I ever could have imagined, only real stains are under the outboard where the water can't really drain all the way out, even the light mast looks new.

Figured out how the seats used to be also, I guess the aluminum tubes were held together at the top by a vinyl tube in the set tops, found a pic of a boat that was nasty but still attached.

She looks GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't it great how that wet sanding and buffing can bring back that original shine?! Some good carnauba wax once in a while and she'll stay like that. Greta job.

Oh yes, Us PNW folks have it cold and damp here. I don't know if my Pacific Mariner red will come out any better, gelcoat is thin in places, may have to paint it.

Thanks Bob, yes just some cold work but, I read on the forum to work backward, I would do 1500 paper/polish compound/wax, if it didn't work, would go 400/1500/polish/wax, still bad 220/400 etc. Only a couple places needed 220, most was starting at 400. I would squirt with soap/water bottle, sand 400 till it felt loaded up, wipe with terry cloth, repeat, then go to the 1500 twice. Just putting this for others, sanding when the paper is loaded up wont work, and the 1500 I would swirl, if you look at it dry it should be smooth and almost shiny, if scratches so another round, have to get the 400 paper scratches out. now I crank it pretty fast, just a panel at a time.

I am currently restoring my 1967 Wacanda Husky (same as yours) and picked up the recently upholstered seats in the original colors: Turquoise body, Black insets, and Silver Piping. Ultimate Upholstery of Spokane did a great job of rebuilding the backers and pulling it all together.

Thanks Madbohunk, she passes the 10 foot rule, I plan on using it a lot so no garage queen for me. This lake was fantastic yesterday, 60 degree record for Feb and the lake as you can see was glass and only 1 fisherman in the shallow water so stayed out of his way. My gopro didn't work for some reason, have to try again today.

It doesn't look or sound like you need to make any changes. For a 45hp, on a fiberglass boat, both 45+yrs old, it looked to be moving along at a pretty good pace.

Nice work w/ the video and editting. Thanks for the late afternoon cruise
