TOPIC: How Many More Delbilts?

How Many More Delbilts? 11 years 6 months ago #70356

Just curious if anyone knows of anymore Delbilts out there..
In my internet searches I've found two. I'm up to 127 pieces of sandpaper so far.
Tom
This is the one I purchased
This is one I found on Big Fin Boats.
Looks like the deck was black originally??? You think??
I'm thinking white hull and turquoise deck with turquoise splash guards. I picked up an old small Reinell ($275)that had a great windshield and trailer that fits perfectly. Gave the boat and motor away.

What a cool boat Tom! I agree with your choice of colors too... it would have a similar look to the one you found, but I think turquoise would look even better.

Love the flowing lines and the fins Tom, great project! I'm with you on the colors too, turquoise and white looks much better IMO.

Wow you just have to love those curves on her. They just don't make them like this anymore.

I picked this one up a few years ago. There was no name on it so it took some research to find what it is. It is awaiting a resto.

Mine has the Delbilt name raised in glass on the dash and the "Super Hydro" raised in glass on the fins.
What color scheme are you going with? Is that the same model as the one being towed directly behind the Jeep that Gene posted? It looks like your fins are slightly different?

The blue & white boat was once advertised as a "Hydroglass" made in San Pedro, CA. You might try searching the forums with that term also.

Here is a write-up by a former owner:

Unfortunately the old forum archives have become a little buggy over the past year or so.

I have probably the first Delbilt. A 1955 without fins. I knew the builder, Del dickerson and helped him build some of them when I was a kid in Agoura, California.
