Need info on a 62 Seaking (17-19') cabin cruiser powered by a Seaking 80hp V-4. I assume Gale OMC made.
I have a lead on one and the price is right.
Got to go and check it out.

I was informed on the AOMCI site that Sea King didn't offer any 80hp motors only up to 60hp in that era. The owner must have gotten his numbers mixed up.

You were told right.
Gale made Sea kings from 1941 to 1963 and the largest they ever made was 60 Hp

Dave,
I am almost positive that Sea King private labeled the West Bend 80hp inline 4 cylinder, which was the basis for Chrysler.
These early inline fours had 1 coil per cylinder, alternator, etc.
I think I have a manual for one here somewhere. Another company also re-badged the West Bend, can't recall which one right now.

I didn't know Sea King used the 80hp West Bend motor. Now that I think of it the owner said it had 4 sets of points. So that sounds like WestBend/Chrysler is what he was talking about. I have an Elgin manual of the 80. Did have a West Bend service manual but sold that book. That even had Shark-O-matic I/O in it.
Well, I'm going to look at it in a month or two. And check it well.
Bill, Let me know if you find the 80hp manual. No Rush.
Thanks for all the info Guys.

Nice V-4 60hp. Good motor. I have a 59 50hp Evinrude. When the owner told me it had 4 sets of points I found out the one that is on the boat has the West Bend made 80hp 4 inline motor. (Haven't seen it yet, so going by what owner is telling me.)They developed it by stacking two 40s on top of each other to make an inline 4. Also has 4 coils and 4 condensers for the ignition.
Sears (Elgin) even sold them for a limited time before changing to Scott/McCulloch.
I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it. I don't think there are too many out there up and running. If there is anybody out there that does. Please let me know with pictures.
