TOPIC: Help Need to Id my boat

Help Need to Id my boat 14 years 2 months ago #252

Hello all tried all kinds of sites everyone says come here. I picked up an old soon to be beauty, but cannot figure out who made her. She is fiberglass 14 ish feet and supposed to be a 1959 with fins it looks like it used to have name plates on rear corners and they may have been rectangular shaped aprox.12" X 1.5" hope this is a clue. I would like to restore to original lay out interior wise.

Thanks Jeff

Your boat is a 57/58 Skagit 14 hull.
Send a pic of the transom, it should be a sponson bottom.
The fins were either glassed on, or if you grind off the paint and can prove they were part of the deck made in a mold, then someone splashed a new mold for the deck. Which I doubt.
So you're going to have to do some work for final ID.
Go to the Skagit section in Library and look at the 14's.

Could very well be a splash of a Skagit 14- a lot of small boat manufacturers got their start with someone else's design. I would figure a successful hull design would be much harder to come up with than a new deck design.

Sometimes ID'ing a boat here takes months and multiple posts. You never know though what someone might come up with once their memory is jogged or they come across something. Today in fact I finally ID'ed a catamaran boat someone posted a long while back as being a Cloud made by Canton Mfg. Co. in Canton, Missouri.
