I've been replacing a number of old hoses and such on our 40+ year old Silverton. On more then one occasion the plastic fitting easily snapped right off while attempting to remove the hose. And on on of them the flange on a thru hull just disintegrated when I touched it.

Even though they are plastic - or maybe especially so - they get brittle with age and after 40+ years they bear replacing. They may look ok, but they can easily fail and send your classic to the bottom! Best to replace every one of them during a resto or renovation.
