TOPIC: Bearcat overheating

Bearcat overheating 5 years 8 months ago #137273

The orginal owner hacked the stat and i just removed everything and sealed the housing.

Plenty of water flow.. At high rpms the water becomes steam. She is really clean, no build up inside and has almost perfect compression.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Have a great weekend and catch plenty of fish.

Replace the thermostat and all related components?

Welcome aboard, you came to the right place.
More info is needed. Year, hp, model number etc.
First guess would be that without the thermostat the water is just going in one end and out the other without going through the block.
Had that problem with an old Evinrude.

You might try posting in the Homelite & Bearcat section, we have some experts on these motors that hang around there occasionally. Welcome aboard btw.
