TOPIC: Boat with landing gear

I found one out by Eagle Mountain lake that the owner said was made for the Navy Seabees {spl}. It has a bumper hitch on the front and wheels that fold up into wells built into the interior of the boat.
I was wondering if anyone has ever seen another one. The owner says the boat was built by Texas Maid for the Navy and that only a limited amount were made.
Any info on this boat would greatly appreciated.

That's a tough one. I searched wwII sites and didn't even come up with a hit.
Didn't try searching Texas Maid. Might be something there.

No pics but look n the library at a 14ft Texas Maid that is a bare bones boat. Just add two boxes on one on each and below the bow eye add a 1 7/8 hitch.

A long time ago I found a boat just like you are describing, on craigslist down south some where. I posted it here on the main forum, but that was years ago. I think I titled the thread something like "boat with its own trailer" or something like that. And no I didn't save any pics from it.

Possibly Amphibious Boats of Denton, Texas. They were involved in a huge stock sale scam and investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

That is exactly the pattern and shape. Except the one over by the lake (50 miles) is aluminum and is completely open, no top deck.

I had one of these. Darned if I can find any pics of it. It had big, round taillights on the transom like a late '50's Ford.. There was enough left to use for patterns. I realized that I would never do the project so I sold it.
