TOPIC: 1962 LONE STAR MEDALLION Out in the Weeds

1962 LONE STAR MEDALLION Out in the Weeds 8 years 9 months ago #111096

Friends,

YEP. I've found another NICE tin boat/trailer "sitting out in the weeds" near Austin & that should make a NICE bay-fishing rig.

Do any of you happen to have a GOOD color photo of the interior arrangements & seating for the Medallion?
(Wouldn't you know, that there's NO 1962 factory brochure in the FG Library.)

Also, what is the recommended HP rating for this deep/wide 16 foot tin hull?
(I would guess 60-100HP but I cannot find the USCG rating anywhere.)

yours, satx

This info is from 1964, lists Max. HP as 90. The fuzzy pic shows the seating, 1964.

I have a bunch of other pics of Medallion seats but all are redone or revamped. The pic in blue trim on a beach is from 1963.

ADDENDA: I would very much appreciate you posting the photos that you have of the interiors/seating of the Medallion hulls.

To ALL,

IF the bad weather ends this week, I'll be going to north Travis County on Sunday afternoon to pick-up the boat & trailer.
Then, I have to find a matching pair of 40HP OMC BigTwins to restore/power it.= A matching pair of GALE SOVEREIGNs would be IDEAL for water-skiing, fishing the rivers, lakes & bays of south TX and any number of other "marine pursuits", imVho.
(Btw, the hull was built in April 1962.)

TallTexan,

YEP & thanks to "a certain gentleman from Richmond, TX", it's a NICE truck that I'll be using, too.

Btw, do you happen to know of anyone over your way that might have suitable Lone Star seats???
(Even "trashed seats" would be a better place to start than from a pile of plywood, foam & yards of upholstery material.)

Nice find, we may have to form a Lone Star club in San Antonio. I just got my CruiseLiner off the blocks and on my Gator rectification last week.

Essayon,

I'm FOR that idea. = GOOD PLAN.
(I'm somewhat of a "nut" about Texas-BUILT boats.)
