About FGNW - About Us

Originally started in the mid 90's known as the Skag Boys, this club has evolved a few times. The Skag boys were a group of guys that primarily owned Skagit boats. They got together on weekends & such to enjoy their boats and promote the Skagit line.

Around 1999, Bill Roberts took this group to a new level when one Saturday morning, he called Kelly Wood with FiberGlassics. Over morning coffee, Bill and Kelly talked for hours on the phone. Bill wanted to take the group to a much higher level. Kelly offered, and built, the Classic Skagit Boat Club's first web page that day. It came complete with its own message board to boot!

From this point, the site saw huge growth. It continued to grow and the word got out... thanks to Bill. About July 2003, the group had somewhere around 80 members

Then, in October 2003, members of the Classic Skagit Boat Club had a pivotal meeting to decide the future direction of the club. Adopting a "More Boating, Less Voting" theme, they broadened the club's focus by becoming FiberGlassics Northwest, which also solidified the club's ties to the main FiberGlassics community.
